CHOCO FLAN FANTASY

Lets learn how to make an amazing choco flan cake ,layer of moist chocolate cake with a layer of creamy flan top of with toppings like strawberry,s a dessert full of joy.

What is a flan:

Flan is not connected to one cuisine it has a diverse history, It starts from ancient Rome but its name the word FLAN is came from old french word “flaon”. what is a flan? flan is a baked creamy flat cake have a texture like a pudding covered with a layer of caramel on it. If we searched for flan we come to know about various flavours of flan worldwide people of different cultures make flan as a desert as well as in savoury.

Today we are making choco flan ,a fusion of flan recipe so we are making a layer of fudgy chocolate cake layered up with creamy flan top up with caramel sauce a divine combo of flavours,an amazing desert to enjoy.

Things we need:

For flan :
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 1/4 cup of water(sugar and water for caramel)
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 small can of evaporated milk
  • 1 can of condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence
For cake:
  • flour sifted 2 cups
  • Cocoa powder ¾ cup
  • Baking soda 1 tsp
  • Baking powder 1 & ½ tsp
  • Salt ½ tsp
  • Instant coffee 1 tbs
  • Eggs 3 (room temperature)
  • sugar 1 cup
  • Brown sugar ½ cup
  • Yogurt ¾ cup (room temperature)
  • Vanilla essence ½ tbs
  • Oil ½ cup
  • Milk warm 1 Cup

How to make it:

make the flan:

Fist take a saucepan and make caramel add water and sugar in it and cook on low flame be careful from burning cook it until it become thickened but not burnt.

After cooking it take your pan you are baking your desert and add your caramel layer in it.Now take a bowl add evaporated milk, eggs , condensed milk and vanilla essence in it ,whisk it until well combined.Pass the mixture from a narrow sifter so you can have a smooth batter. pre heat your oven at 350 F and cook the flan for 25 minutes until half done.

For cake:

mix dry ingredients separately and liquid separate and then mix them and your chocolate cake better is ready you can also take store bought pre mix for it.Now take your pan in which you bake the flan add this mixture on it now again put it in the oven for 25 minutes. cook until the toothpick test is clear and that,s it your desert is ready ,take it out leave it until it comes to room temperature and by flipping on your platter it will come out easily.Garnish it with any type of toppings you want blueberry,s strawberry or mint and its ready to enjoy.

Important tips:

  • it is important to make caramel carefully if you think while cooking that sides got burnt then take water with brush and add small amount of water from sides of saucepan to prevent burning.
  • baking time is must to focus if you overcook or under cook it then results will not come out perfectly.
